Sir,?In The Indian Medical Gazette of August of this year. Colonel Clayton Lane, i.M s , has been kind enough to publish a paper and a letter of criticism on my work on the life-history of Ascaris lumbricoides. Colonel Lane's criticism falls naturally under two heads:? I. That the positive proof of the direct transmission of Ascaris lumbricoides without an intermediate host is complete and absolutely outweighs any negative results in the contrary direction, that consequently the rodent are entirely ruled out as intermediate hosts and that the development of Ascaris lumbricoides in the rodents is merely a spectral image of the true life-history.
